The Elephant in the Room – as Caretakers of Earth, Muslims Must Oppose its Destroyers

Standard

Pollution has appeared on land and at sea because of what man’s hands have accomplished, so he may let them taste something of what they have earned, in order that they will turn back [in repentance]. (30:41)

Although many translators translate fasad as “corruption,” it can definitely also refer to “pollution” which is indeed a kind of corruption that conveys to modern understanding that this isn’t about leaders getting kickbacks or bribes, it’s about directly destroying the earth and its resources.

It is both dereliction of our duty and a threat to our survival as a species to harm the earth. The Quran warns us not to commit fasad (corruption of any kind) upon the earth many times (around 60x including non-environmental corruption). And our mandate from the Almighty as humans is to be caretakers of the earth. Thus we must also struggle against those who cause the pollution and destruction of the resources of our planet, its water, living things, minerals, air, everything. But now the earth is horribly polluted and made toxic at the hands of humans, and who is the biggest criminal? The U.S. military.

The video above is the trailer for a film by Abby Martin that has not yet come out but presents the case against the U.S. military as the biggest polluter and destroyer of our planet, that acts with total impunity to destroy our water, air, land, sea, and all the life that depends on it, including ourselves and our children regardless to where we live.

Fighting Corruption upon the Earth

Below is an important example that also exposes the lies the world has been told about Hawaii and how and why it became a U.S. state. It was not about tourism and having a beautiful place to live; it was about military infrastructure and forcibly usurping the magnificent resources Allah provided to people for their living against their will, to use it as a power base, endangering and eventually destroying their clean water and land with toxic materials.

The wealthy leaders do not care about this – they’ve already built cities and infrastructure underground where they plan to hide until the harm they plan to commit subsides. This may be hard to believe, and it is not the subject of the film, which exposes what the U.S. military has done and continues to do that destroys vital resources for Allah has provided us.

The U.S. poisoned the people’s water with jet fuel despite many warnings, so ppl died.

In the meantime, to give a perspective on how important this is to the U.S. as an empire, this video tells their side of the story, which entirely ignores the impact it has had on the people whose land it actually belongs to, and how the military literally stores toxic materials over precious and pristine sources of water, life, and beauty.

This is from the U.S. point of view so take it with a grain of salt.

They do tell us how and why Hawaii was made a U.S. state and it wasn’t for the pineapples, as we were told. Not even the sugar. It was for its strategic location for the U.S. military, and they prioritize this over human life, not to mention the life of myriad beautiful creatures endangered by their toxic presence. The U.S. is a colonial-style occupying power, not a democracy, and it serves its own elite, as well as Israel now that they’ve successfully infiltrated all aspects of American society. This explains why the U.S. government cannot say “no” to Israel’s genocide: they are planning some nefarious things themselves in conjunction with that genocide, like taking over Gaza’s natural gas reserves and building a port there to ship oil from – as if fossil fuels were just the perfect thing for the future of our planet.

Standing in their way: U.S. college students and faculty. And all people of conscience worldwide. We must prove we too have a conscience, unlike certain Arabs who are all in with the riches of this world and don’t give a damn about the Hereafter, let alone helping the Palestinian people in this life. Only the poorest and most oppressed people, the Yemenis, have come to the rescue with what they could do, showing the world that military might has an expiration date, and the U.S. with all its usurped power along with Israel with all its usurped nationhood will fail. And it’s all on them, because they broke every one of God’s laws a million times over and deserve to lose and be eradicated, at least the evil ones among them. Who are certainly the leaders and their followers in crime.

For their corruption is not only in their kufr or denial of God, not only in their taking bribes and gaining wealth by theft, abuse, and murder, but also in defiling the earth itself. US white phosphorous, a chemical weapon, was used to burn and kill children in Gaza, and it was US “dumb bombs” that killed whole families by the tens of thousands. And it is the U.S. who could stop the starvation of millions of people and an already extreme human-caused famine but refuse to stop military aid to Israel which previous presidents did – and that alone would stop Israel from their atrocities because they need weapons to do it. So the U.S. is absolutely complicit. Biden and Blinken must be charged with war crimes along with Netanyahu, Gvir, and their partners in atrocities. They’ve also destroyed Gaza’s water and land, salting and poisoning these resources. There is no greater evil than such people on this planet. They are the people of satan, but the followers of satan will never succeed and all their plans will only end in loss and self-destruction.

He promises and arouses desire in them, but Satan does not promise except delusion. (4:120)

As Muslims, we must also work against this evil in whatever way we can. For us is to make an effort; and the outcome is with Allah.
