Muslims Should Not Stand Idly By to Oppression

Standard

There is much conflict and egregious oppression going on in the world right now, yet it seems most Muslims are oblivious, content to go and pray in the mosque and Friday, work and live their lives, take care of their families, and that’s it — and this is for the “better” Muslims who actually pray and give Zakat and are certain that Allah is One. And I’ve seen wonderful responses to drives for charity for those abroad suffering from natural disasters. But oppression — the tyranny of those in power over innocent populations — should also concern us. Often it seems beyond help; what can we do about, for example, the Uighurs in China? Or the Rohingya escaping from Myanmar and living (the lucky ones!) in refugee camps? There are agencies to help the Rohinjya and others, but we also need to speak out about oppression and call out those in power who could make a difference. And what about the Palestinians? Where is the Muslim support and activism? Young people and minors are being slaughtered and the media is not covering it. Israel is conducting an “operation” called “Break the Wave” and its name says it all — it’s “not only targeting members of certain factions, but any semblance of confrontation to its colonization of Palestine. Intensifying its use of live ammunition, Israel loosened its shoot-to-kill policy last year. ” Is this even legal?

Saudi Govt Waging War on Islam Itself, Not “Extremism”

Standard
CJ Werleman gives this insightful report and what we can do about it.

Muslims often lead busy lives, in some places struggling just to survive, and for various reasons may not be aware of this. But Saudi Arabia under MBS is no longer protecting the holy sites — and apparently the regime has been working on their destruction long beforehand, according to the video above. No longer a safe place for Muslims to practice their religion. No longer interested in protecting the rights of Muslims in the world, or interested in Islam as a religion or way of life.

Unexpected Revelations in Surah Al-Quraish 106

Standard

This sura directly follows Surat Al-Fil 105, “The Elephant,” and relates to it in that it was the destruction of the army of the elephant (described in Surat Al-Fil) that saved the “secure passage” for trade and pilgrimage that brought the Quraish tribe of Mecca their prestige and successful trade in the region. Thus the last verse of 105:5 where Allah “made them (that attacking army) like chewed-up straw,” was “for the secure passage” of their trade caravans, as if completing the sentence from 105:5. This makes suras 105 and 106 a “pair.”

Death and Resurrection in Every Heartbeat

Standard

A previous post speaks in details about how with every heartbeat there is a death — when dead (de-oxygenated) blood enters the right atrium (yin receptive chamber) to be pumped at low pressure (an essential yinmercy) into the lungs (by the right balanced yin/yang ventricle/pump) — and resurrection oxygenation in the lungs, the organ that recycles the element of air (O2 in, CO2 out) — received by the left atrium (receiving chamber), to be pumped by the powerful left ventricle (the power yang pump) at high pressure (full might/power) alive into the whole body, which is thus resurrected. And how this relates to Allah’s name.

THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY HEARTBEAT. And this heartbeat is dhikr Allah!

Video: How Islam Saved Western Civilization

Standard
In 7 minutes, C. J. Werleman explains how Islam Saved Western Civilization

This is certainly an interesting and true perspective, inspired as he says from a much longer lecture, the inspiration for this video. And informative for those who are not aware of this. What is left to say is that Islam may need to save civilization itself again, because the world, especially the wealthy and powerful fraction of a percent of it, is on a downward spiral. But this time it is not science and technology that we are losing, rather it is everything else of value.

Surprising Plausible Alternate Interpretation of Al-Khidr from Sura 18 Al-Kahf

Standard

In Surat Al-Kahf, a sura with many unusual occurrences whose meanings and explanations have been variously interpreted and re-interpreted, we read the story of prophet Moses (Musa) meeting, after a special “sign” was revealed (a cooked fish jumping miraculously into the water, alive), someone who “was given knowledge from Allah” and whom Moses wanted to follow and learn from. He is not named in the Quran, but referred to by people anecdotally as Al-Khidr (a word derived from “green”). I have written a post about him here. (Featured fish picture above reminds us of the “sign” given to prophet Musa.)

But in this Quora post, we read a very different and fascinating possibility: that Al-Khidr was not a “human with specialized knowledge from Allah” but an angel who appeared to Moses in human form — as have other angels mentioned significantly in the Quran. The post explains why he was likely not a human being — because he killed a boy based on a future prediction, which is not allowed for people. It does make sense also in that “Al-Khidr” refused to eat — a sign that the “man” was not human which also occurred with an angelic visitation in human form that occurred with prophet Abraham (Ibrahim). Both Moses and Abraham were somehow disturbed when the “man” refused food. (The Quora post does not mention this latter bit of evidence, but despite that this possibility of him being an angel had never occurred to me. Kudos to the author!)

Amazing Quran Connection Re Solar/Lunar Calendar

Standard

There’s a reference in Sura 18 Al-Kahf (“The Cave”) to the number of years the “people of the cave” remained asleep in the cave, where they, along with their dog, escaped religious persecution, after which Allah the Exalted put them in a state of deep sleep for a specified number of years. But the numbers used to describe those years are not merely to tell us how many years they slept as a “factoid” but something more enlightening. Note the unusual wording.

And they remained in their cave for three hundred years and exceeded by nine. (Al-Kahf 18:25)

Calculating a Global Hijri Calendar and Al-Hilal

Standard

The article linked below from this site proposes a new global Hijri Calendar, using astronomical data as well as Quranic ayat and certain relevant hadiths to find the best and most authentic guidance, to create a Hijri calendar by which all Muslims in the world will follow a single calendar date for significant Islamic events, including the beginning of Ramadan and the start of the two Eid dates, over which political and other irrelevant considerations have famously been a source of division.

New thoughts about the Islamic Hijri Calendar
